Why it is wise to sign up for AGLOCO

AGLOCO , which is a short form for "A GLObal COmmunity, is an Internet based economic network, which enables members to Get their share of the Internet. AGLOCO reveals that advertisers, search companies, online merchants and other businesses currently pay lots of companies to deliver people like you and me to them for attention and commerce. With this revelation, we can conclude that these companies are enriching themselves behind our backs (akutidyera masuku pamutu, in my vernacular Chichewa language, contact me if you want to learnt it!).In light of this, AGLOCO promises to be a global community of Internet users whose active members can be paid for all their online activity. You do not have to do anything extraordinary to be part of this revolution. You just have to sign up. It's fast and you pay absolutely nothing for it.There are no hidden costs. After that, you are supposed to install the Viewbar™, which will be available shortly. Once you install the Viewbar™ software it will automatically record the time you're actively online, and you will be paid for it. If you refer your friends and family, AGLOCO will pay you even more cash and shares. With these developments, AGLOCO has already created a worldwide online shockwave. Thousands and thousands of people are signing up every day. Some analysts are saying that after Google and Youtube, AGLOCO is the next big thing.

While many members are joining AGLOCO, I have found several anti-AGLOCO comments on the Internet which are discouraging some people from joining AGLOCO. A few days ago, I made a few comments against these anti-AGLOCO campaigners on aglomerate.com Now I would like to express myself even more clearly here on my own blog. I think it is very wise sign up up for AGLOCO because of the following reasons:
  1. You pay absolutely nothing for it. Therefore, by joining AGLOCO, you lose nothing. In the event that it fails, as the skeptics suggest, you will lose nothing. You have the liberty to quit without any problems. If it proves to be the next big thing, as several analysts have pointed out, you are bound to be part and parcel of that revolution. At that time it might be difficult for the current doubting Thomases to join AGLOCO. Who knows, you might even be required to pay a lot of $$$ to join AGLOCO at that time. Therefore, it is wise to join AGLOCO right now.
  2. Some people have been saying that AGLOCO will fail because it is a reincarnation of AllAdvantage which was launched on March 31, 1999. Records show that Alladvantage managed to raise nearly $200 Million in venture capital and grew to more than 10 million members in its first 18 months of operation. AllAdvantage paid out $100 million to its members; a few members were earning $10,000 to $15,000 a month. It however had to wind up in 2001 because Web advertising had dried up. Based on this, some people argue that AGLOCO will fail because it uses similar principles to the ones which used in AllAdvantage and that some of its co-founders (eg. Jim Jorgensen) were also involved in AllAdvantage. My view is different. If something is reincarnated, it appears in a different form, especially after it has disappeared for a period of time (Cambridge Online dictionary). The major reason for reincarnating is to ensure that it should be able to survive in an environment where its predecessor failed to survive. With this understanding, I would like to point out that AGLOCO will embrace all the positive attributes of AllAdvantage (unfortunately, these skeptics NEVER talk about these attributes). AGLOCO will also put in place mechanisms that will help to address the problems encountered in the AllAdvantage scheme. After all, most things in life do not succeed at the first attempt. That's why students sometimes pass with flying colours after repeating a certain course. Therefore, it wise to join AGLOCO.
  3. One thing that I have observed is that most of the people that are bashing AGLOCO are those whose online business interests are threatened. They see that AGLOCO will take away their members. As a result, they have no choice but to demonize AGLOCO as much as possible in order to damage it in its infancy before they, themselves, are sent packing due to lack of patronage. Do not follow their advice because they want to continue making $$$ behind your backs. It wise to join AGLOCO because you will paid for your usual online activities.
  4. When a good thing is coming up, there will always be negative sentiments. Even Lotfi Zadeh , the father of fuzzy logic, encountered criticism in connection to the fuzzy logic theory which he proposed some decades ago. Some sections of the society still regard fuzzy logic as controversial maybe because the principles outlined in it are a threat to their own career orientations. Despite all this, nowadays, there is a wide acceptance and a broad track record of successful applications of fuzzy logic. I hope that with this observation, you can now agree with me that it is really wise to sign up for AGLOCO.

Update on my MScEng graduation

I arrived in Durban on Sunday morning after travelling over night. I was warmly welcomed by Pastor Mandevu and his wife at their home in Malvern. That same morning, I attended a church service where Pastor Mandevu was ministering. On Monday morning, I went to the Howard College Campus, where the Faculty Officer confirmed to me that everything was in place for my graduation.

On Tuesday morning, brother Micky, a member of the Water of Life Church in Durban gave us (Pastor Mandevu, his wife and I) a lift to the Westville Campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the venue of the graduation ceremony. I met my Zambian buddy, Joseph Kang'ombe Makasa who was also graduating with an MScEng in Electrical Engineering. It was nice to meet Joseph at this function. I entered the graduands' section of the hall with him while Pastor Mandevu and his wife went to the section prepared for guardians and relatives. The event, itself, was brief. It was nice walking up front there and having the MScEng degree conferred on me by the Acting Chancellor, Prof Malegapuru Makgoba with photographs being taken. I then went on to collect my paper. A number of photos were also taken outside the hall after the event. After that, brother Micky picked us up and we had our lunch at his home in Morningside. We went back to the pastor's home around 4 O'clock. The photos of the graduation event will be posted here later.

Meanwhile, I am still in Durban. I will go back to Pretoria tomorrow. I will then proceed to Malawi where I will be staying for the time being. Now, I really need to embark on my permanent head development (PhD) studies. Answers to questions like where and when will I do my PhD studies will be given later.

MScEng Graduation in Durbs!

I will be in Durban on 17 April 2007. I will be attending my MScEng graduation at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College Campus). By the way, I passed my MScEng (Computer Engineering) with distinction.I thank God for this milestone in my life. It was difficult studying down there while my family was still in Malawi. My acknowledgements go to the following:
  • My wife Felistas for her understanding and encouragement during this period.
  • Professor Dawoud Dawoud for his guidance and insightfulness throughout my entire study period.
  • My grandmother Nyangwira at Mzokoto for instilling in me a hard-working spirit and the fear of the Lord from a tender age.
  • The African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) for their financial support towards my graduate studies.
  • Telkom South Africa and Alcatel for providing the equipment necessary for my studies and the financial support that enabled me to present parts of my work at SATNAC 2005, WCCI 2006 and SATNAC 2006.
  • Fellow graduate students at the Radio Access Technologies Centre for their assistance and the wonderful time we had together.
  • Various relatives and members of the body of Christ for their moral and material support for my family during this period.

ESPN Soccernet, you can do better than this!

As a soccer fan, ESPN Soccernet is one of the sites that I frequently visit. This site provides a good coverage on world football. However, there is one aspect that I do not like about it. When you open it for the very first time, you are greeted by this graphic user interface (GUI). By using this GUI, ESPN Soccernet claim that they will be able to know a little more about their worldwide audience. It is easy to see that the list of regions in this GUI is too selective. Two huge land masses i.e. Africa and South America and one big footballing nation, Mexico (the hosts of the 1986 FIFA World Cup) have been left out. These regions are too huge to be neglected just like that.

Noone can dispute the fact that the contribution of the South Americans to world football, even though their economies smaller than those of EU countries, is second to none. Where do the likes of Pele,
Maradona, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi etc. come from? I am sure lots of South Americans visit ESPN Soccernet in order to follow up on their soccer stars. As for Africa, there is a growing legion of talented players playing their football in Europe. Sameul Eto'o, the Cameroonian, and Didier Drogba, the Ivorian, who feature for Barcelona and Chelsea respectively can easily find their place in any team (be it national or club) in the world. We must also remember that George Weah, the 1995 world footballer of the year is an African. Let me also point out something here. Africa is too big a continet to be neglected on world events. It is world's second-largest and second most-populous continent after Asia. Besides that, most of the world's gold and diamonds come from Africa.

Therefore, I would like to ask the management of ESPN Soccernet to change this GUI. I suggest that the new set of regions must be as follows (take note of my comments in brackets):
  • Europe (remove UK because she is part of Europe)
  • North America (this will now incorporate Mexico)
  • Asia
  • South America
  • Africa
  • Australia/New Zealand
  • Other (this will take care of the small islands and those browsing while in transit i.e. in air or on a ship)
I just hope that ESPN Soccernet will take heed of my free advice. If they want to pay me, it is all at their discretion :) . This issue aside, ESPN Soccernet deserve kudos for the videos that I see on their website.
